I love America. I am so thankful to all those who have made it possible for me to live the way that I do. I haven’t been out of the country many times, but the mission trips I’ve taken have served to remind me how wonderful we really have it here.
My brother was in the Navy. My dad was in the Army. I’m so thankful their lives were spared during those years.
With my brother, I mourned when he joined the Army. It was devastating to me that he would be gone so long to boot camp. It stretched out longer than those months, but we were able to see him before he went to the next place. We saw him several times over those years.
My dad’s name was on the list for Vietnam and then right before they were supposed to leave, his name was mysteriously crossed out. We’ve always thanked God that he didn’t have to go over there~ so many came back totally different people.
When I think of our soldiers in Iraq, I am so saddened for the families they have here, waiting, missing, hoping…and for all the things they miss while they’re doing their duty…their child being born, first steps, first day of school…
What a sacrifice they give, not just in what they miss, but the danger they’re put in every day.
I pray for our soldiers today. I pray for comfort as they’re away from their loved ones, courage during the frightening times, strength when they just want to give up, and peace that they will be home soon.
God bless America!
