Bachelorette Chatter

August 2, 2011

You didn’t think you were going to get by without hearing my thoughts on this season’s Bachelorette, did you??? I know, I know…I feel like I should apologize every time I bring it up. Seriously, I barely even watch television anymore, but this is the show I choose to watch? I know it speaks very poorly of me. I know all of this and I cannot seem to stay away. Even when I am POSITIVE I will not watch, I still manage to get sucked in.

This time, I hate to say it, but the drama with Bentley was so horrific, I had to watch! And once I started, I HAD to find out who she picked…didn’t I? If you don’t watch the show, this awful guy named Bentley came on the show to promote his business and get exposure. To Ashley’s face, he acted like he was really into her, but behind the scenes, he told the camera how she is NOT his type, that he wished it was Emily (the one chosen over Ashley during The Bachelor) and was just an all around liar and scum bucket.

Truly. I could not stop watching.

This has been a difficult one to watch. I’ve dozed through a lot of it. Ashley is a little bit frustrating, in that she seems to go for guys who are NOT into her…but once she realizes it, she does finally move on. It has made me wonder if she’s going to end up with anyone at all, but now that we’re at the end, I think she’s settled into herself a little more. We shall see…

So who’s it gonna be, Ashley? I am SO ready to find out…

Is it going to be Ben?

Or will it be J.P.?

I think it’s going to be J.P.

Now, I like Ben a lot. He’s sweet, laid back and funny in a quiet way. I sort of think he’s so nice that I don’t want him to get hurt if she picks him~ then they’d go through the whole Bachelorette phenomena that seems to befall these contestants and that would NOT be good. He just needs a nice, pretty, smart girl who can live a quiet, happy life with him in wine country. Any takers? Anyone? Anyone?

J.P. is a great guy too and it seems they have more of a spark. I haven’t enjoyed seeing him pout at times about the other guys, but other than that, he’s a real stand up guy. He seems to be crazy about Ashley and it just might last more than 2 seconds with them. She certainly enjoys kissing him~ that much is obvious.

OK, onto the actual show…

Seeing Ashley’s sister helps me understand Ashley a little more. She has had a lot to live up to~ her sister is gorgeous and seems very confident…and opinionated. Ashley’s insecurities make a little more sense to me now. In all the previews, I totally thought it was going to be Ben that the sister didn’t imagine Ashley with…did not see that being J.P. at all. But with Ashley’s track record with choosing the exact thing people warn her about, it is looking even better for J.P. right now.

Major Awkward Moment when they questioned J.P.’s ability to make Ashley laugh…um, the answer is obviously NO.

Aw. It’s really uncomfortable seeing Ashley with her sister. Both her parents tell her to trust her heart, no matter what Sister says. I actually like the sister’s honesty~ she asks the right questions. Her opinions are based on just seeing them briefly and on ONE visit, which isn’t quite enough to say all she said, but she probably knows her sister best. It did feel pretty harsh for her to say she didn’t think she’d ever feel it.

I wanted J.P. to turn it around, instead of getting angry~ although it was understandable for him to be hurt and offended…it did seem like he could try a little harder to bring them around.

I’m totally hungry for watermelon. Sorry~ did I say that out loud? I might be losing focus during J.P.’s whining speech to the camera.

I want to stand up and cheer when Ashley finally says what she wants to her sister. I’m still thinking the sister is pretty smart and actually right on, but proud of Ashley for finally getting guts. Drama. Whew.

And on to Ben…

“Dog Voice” just might have won Sister over for good. They had a great conversation. Ben most definitely said all the right things and seems very sincere. The family LURVED him.

(Is ABC REALLY going to subject the world to more Jake and Vienna???? Noooooooo!!!!!)

Back to our regularly scheduled program…

I have two words for you: MUD.

I do like Ben & Ashley’s playful banter. They do seem really fun together. When he tells her he loves her, it was a really sweet moment. I approve. Me and Sister…

And now back to J.P.

It seems like Ashley has checked out a bit when they first start talking, but that changes quickly. Can I interject here that that is a miraculous swimsuit. MiRACulous.

Where can I get one of those suits?

:D

She’s “completely infatuated with J.P.” Hmm…so does that mean she’ll say yes if he proposes? Do you say yes to infatuation?

Oh goodness, this show is so awful. I hate what it does to people’s emotions. AWFUL.

Wow, the ring Ben picks is gorgeous. The Infinity ring…

Neil Lane is getting all therapist with the guys. Way to get more airtime, Neil. I wonder~ do these guys get the same choices of rings? Did Ben get more choices since he went first? Inquiring AND Enquiring minds want to know!

I’m getting nervous now. There’s going to be tears. Serious tear-shed.

Nate has thought she’d pick J.P. for a long time. I have too. And with J.P. continuously talking about a broken heart, I’m thinking that’s where it’s headed too. It has seemed like it would be Ben during this episode, but I wonder if they’re tricking us. You know how they do…

Awww. She’s gonna break Ben’s heart. Shoot. He’s so sure too.

Oh man. He proposes. And she lets him. Why did she let him get down on one knee?

He gets angry and completely did not see it coming. It is BRUTAL that she sees him leaving on the boat.

I wonder if she’ll regret not picking Ben. She has some passion with J.P., but I don’t know…the Bachelor/Bachelorette track record is not good and with the odds being spoken already about this couple…Dun, dun, dun. (scary organ music) HOWEVER…maybe this will be a couple that survives. We always can hope, can’t we? J.P. & Ashley make a striking couple and I really do hope they’ll be happy. There are going to be fireworks with Sister. Eesh. That should be interesting~ maybe we can see THAT show.

If she’d picked Ben, she would have had a cooler ring, lots of laughter…and all-you-can-drink wine. I know~ maybe Sister can give him a call and THEY can have a happy life together!

(Later…kudos to Sister for making things right with J.P.!)

Ali Thoughts

August 3, 2010

The fact that I am back home from a very long road trip is WAY down the list of important things when you consider that ALI PICKED ROBERTO.

I was predicting that Ms. Ali Bachelorette would not pick anyone~ especially after the debacle with Frank~ the guy that she liked a lot who told her he was in love with his ex-girlfriend.

Then I said she SHOULD pick Chris…they just seemed to fit.

HOWEVER…I did get a little swept away by the whole finale. I did. And the fact that Roberto sweats profusely ALMOST didn’t even matter in all the romantic moments. He seemed to really be crazy about Ali. Let’s hope so~ he proposed and she accepted.

Ali broke all the Bachelor/Bachelorette rules when she sent Chris home a day early. And I will respect her forever for doing that HUGE gesture. It has always bugged me…EVERY SHOW…when they’re down to two people and still saying during the interviews that they “don’t know what to do…I love TWO people…I could be married to either one…”

Ali knew she loved Roberto and didn’t want to put Chris through the hurt of having another great date together, picking out a ring “just in case” and being left hanging that last day…it was the right thing to do and I’m proud of her for doing that. I’m sure she got a little flack for not dragging it out until the last possible moment.

What say ye? Is this duo going to make it to the altar? What are your thoughts?

Frank Schtank

July 20, 2010

Grrrrrr.

Hiss.

Boo.

I missed last week’s Bachelorette, so I didn’t see the guys’ hometown visits, but I’ve seen enough of the show to know that Ali had fallen for Frank.

I won’t go into all the reasons why I think she should or shouldn’t have fallen for the bug-eyed, insecure, and overly analytical guy…OK, maybe I just did. The bottom line is, she did fall for him.

And while I wanted to hate him for breaking her heart for realizing he still loved his ex-girlfriend, the scene that took place between them was too wrenching for me to feel anything other than sadness…for both of them. It was after the fact that I wanted to drop-kick him into next Christmas. What a jerk. But in the moment…I just felt very sad.

I could sympathize to an extent with both of them…BUT, for all of Ali’s annoying qualities (she does have a few), what I have liked about her is her ability to be direct and honest. She’s actually been very upfront about her feelings or lack thereof for the guys there and it’s hard to believe that Frank would wait so long to come clean about his feelings…

Not only did he not ever mention this ex-girlfriend, but he was always needing extra assurance from Ali that she liked him. He was jealous of the other guys and he was the picture of a doting boyfriend…

No one deserves to have their heart broken on television. I know that’s what she signed up for…but good grief, give the poor girl a break. She’s been dealt a pretty bad hand here.

I will say that the two guys left do seem to be genuinely nice guys. I don’t think she’ll pick either one of them, but hopefully at the very least, she will walk away knowing there ARE nice guys out there. Aren’t there?

The Bachelorette~ WHAT?

July 6, 2010

I was going to boycott The Bachelorette this season…for many reasons. However, I kept hearing how FUNNY it has been and caved. I caught up online this past week and let me tell you, the material is RICH…RICH with hilarity. Oh, the awkward, awful, hilarious moments. I wish I could bottle it up and pour it out when I’m feeling blue~ it would make me giggle EVERY time.

When Kasey sang…good gracious. Did you not LOSE it? I have never seen anything so painfully awkward. Hysterical. Loon. If you haven’t seen it, watch THIS.

Then there’s the creepy Justin…his girlfriend calls Ali and spills the dirt. Justin skulks away…kinda funny with him in a cast trying to get away as fast as he can. What a creep. Watch HERE.

Another glaringly obvious thing is that Ali (and the bachelors) are drunk at least HALF the TIME! Not sure how anyone can make a clear decision while that intoxicated. Maybe this is the whole reason why none of the couples make it! Once they dry out, they can see the truth. Hmmm.

Nama can’t figure out what Ali sees in Frank. I’m wondering myself more and more. In last night’s show, it was revealed that he lives with his parents again.

RedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlagRedFlag

I read a while back that he’s going to leave because he still has feelings for his old girlfriend. Dorkus. I think he needs to be shaken. Hard. He’s messing with her head…

On a completely different note, I was extremely proud and impressed at Ali for taking control of the scooter. Not sure what I thought of Chris going so slow on that thing. She had to take over and show him how it is done! Was feeling sympathetic toward him at the end of their date, though…he just seemed so nervous. And the fact that he lost his mother in the last year and a half…he just seems so fragile. I hope she doesn’t hurt him.

So, I was NOT expecting her to send TY home and not KIRK! What the world?! Ali, have you lost your ever lovin’ mind? Did you ever have one? Good grief.

Patooie. That’s all I have to say about that.

But then…Jake & Vienna. WHOA. They came on and talked about their breakup. I know that anyone who watched the show (and those who didn’t) were NOT surprised that they are broken up already. What is surprising is the way they dished. Yowzers.

It’s no secret that Vienna was not a fan favorite with everyone, but I have to say, I liked Jake even less by the end of their show. Watching Jake and Vienna last night, I was disgusted. I cannot bear Jake. He is gross. Vienna called him out and I was cheering her on. Yes, she’s obnoxious. But Jake is unbearable.

Ew. Ew. And triple EWWW.

It’s a classic case of He Said, She Said…

I believe Vienna.

Jake can kiss my foot. I don’t want him to get one more second of screen/air/mag time.

Blech, blech, and triple BLECHHH.

I hope Vienna finds happiness. The one good thing that came out of all of this is that Jake showed his true colors.

~Insert Cyndi Lauper song here~

Steer clear, ladies, Jake gots a temper.

The other good thing is that Jake makes all the geeks on Ali’s Bachelorette look almost heroic. Almost.

OK, barely. But a little bit…

A very teensy particle of a tiny bit…

Do Not Sing! Don’t Do It!

June 15, 2010

I haven’t been watching The Bachelorette this season. I haven’t been watching anything…sometimes, I go through spurts of not being able to settle down to watch anything…this is one of those times. Having trouble reading, too…except my favorite blogs, that is…

However, last night, I saw the tail end of The Bachelorette. Nate was flipping through the channels and watching several things at once, so we ended up on that for some bits and pieces of the end.

My comments are based on the little I saw, but certain things don’t take a lot of time to still be glaringly obvious: There are some LOONIES on The Bachelorette!!!

Bear with me~ I don’t know any of the names of the men (except Frank/Glasses Boy, for some reason that one sticks because he doesn’t look like a Frank at all to me!)~ so I’ll have to use my titles, if you don’t mind.

Guy Who Sounds Like He Swallowed His Tongue has lost his ever lovin’ mind. He got a TATTOO, for Pete’s sake! Thank goodness, it doesn’t have Ali’s name on it, but it still has a shield and a rose and eleven diamonds for the final 11 bachelors. Wow. He’s all about “protecting and guarding her heart.” Apparently Ali had told him that what he was telling her wasn’t ringing true and that he was pouring it on too thick. He said he got the message…but then he was disappointed when Frank interrupted his moment of showing Ali the tattoo.

I think he should kiss Frank’s feet. Frank just saved him another week. I can’t think of any girl who wouldn’t run after seeing that tattoo. Craziness.

Weatherman is also bizarre. Why, oh why, do they strum their guitars and sing? It’s just awkward…for everyone. I’m sorry, but unless you are really, REALLY good, a girl does not want to hear a song during a Get To Know You phase of dating, especially on national television. It is too nerve-racking for the one listening, ESPECIALLY if you’re really bad, like Weatherman was. And it screams insincerity: This is my chance to get a record deal and be famous! If I can just sing on TV, I’ll rise to stardom! Don’t do it, people.

Weatherman, do not sing, for the love of Sherry! Or Ali, as it were.

Turns out, Ali was sick. I think it probably helped her get some better perspective, though. You know how when you’re sick, you don’t want to be bothered and you don’t want any baloney? Maybe it was a big blessing in disguise.

Nate’s saying Roberto will be there til the end. I don’t know enough about it, but he’s usually right!

So…that’s my two cents, literally.
