I don’t know about you, but I have a song on my brain pretty much from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. The songs are not always songs I WANT to have on my brain…oftentimes, they are songs that I am trying very hard to get OUT of my brain, but they just won’t go away.
We were laughing at Indigo over the weekend. Both of our kids are musical little creatures. They have beautiful angelic voices. Is that OK for a Mama to say? Indigo also LOVES drums and goes around singing drum rhythms.
This is what he goes around singing most of the time…First, click on this link and once on the website, click “Enter the site.” Get through the brief intro scene and this is what I hear, on certain days, all day long. http://www.kungfupanda.com/ It’s hilarious. Do-do-do-dooba-do-dooba-do-ba-do-ba-do-bada-do-ba-do-bada-do-ba-do-ba-do and repeat. And repeat. And repeat.
Nate said, “It’s his life’s soundtrack.”
Of course, that so resonated with me that I had to write about it.
We were discussing the soundtracks in our minds~ mine changes frequently. On good days, it’s “I Feel Good” (Nanananananana)…or “I’m Walking on Sunshine,” or “Splish Splash I Was Takin’ a Bath,” for times when I’m, you know…taking a bath.
When I told Nate this, he said, “Well, it must feel pretty good to be you.”
But then I told him, I also hear Sinead O’Connor singing, “Nothing Compares to You,” with emphasis on the line, “…since you been gone I can do whatever I want…”
And also, Alanis Morissette, singing, “…who would have thought, it figures…”
That piped him down a bit.
I didn’t tell him about Benjamin Taylor’s song, “Be So Wrong,” because he would have started to take it personally.
His life’s soundtrack is quite interesting. It seems to coincide with whoever he is working with at the time. And it’s true, I know this. He will burst into songs I’ve never heard at obscure times and I can usually tell by the way he sings them, which artist he’s invoking. If I’m a fan, sing on. If I’m not, move on…because then I will be trying to get it out of my head for weeks, nay, MONTHS.
My favorite times are when he’s getting his OWN songs. His songs are the best. Listen to this one he wrote and you will agree.
And if you want to go ahead and have church a while, hear the rest.
