This week when Greyley was having a moment of not being very happy about something…you know, those times with kids when they’re just not pleased with your answer…
We were at the pool and Indigo was listening to me telling Greyley to be happy. She was tearing up a little and fussing just a bit. Well, Indigo started expounding on the “Savins”~ that’s Sabins for those of you who didn’t know…
“But Greyley, (when he says it, it sounds like Greyuhlee), Savins are Savins…
We don’t cry; we’re not sad. We’re brave; we’re strong. We eat, we nap, we eat healfy (healthy), we eat spinach…”
He continued on and on with the attributes of Savins…most of them having to do with eating and napping and being brave. Greyley couldn’t help but giggle at his passionate speech. I couldn’t help but burst with proud Mama feelings that my boy was so sensitive to his sister’s needs and that he’s proud of who we are.
Tonight he asked if she’d wait for him…because he “just wanted to be by her”…he has a way of saying the thing that will completely melt your heart. I adore that about him. And I love that he’s watching out for his sister.
Earlier in the evening she was watching out for him as he went into a new class at church. She stayed and played trains with him until he was comfortable.
These are the moments that do my heart good…when maybe it’s OK to have just a little bit of pride about my children…not too much pride to get the big head, but you know, just a little…
