There has been some adjusting going on in this household, thanks to SCHOOL.
Blech. Have I mentioned that I don’t like school?
I don’t. Not one bit.
Let’s just keep that among US.
Greyley has gone to school for the last 6 years at 9:25 A.M. Now she has to be at school at 8:00 A.M. It’s put just a little cramp in our tendency to stay up on the late side.
I don’t like it. Not even one little bit. I might have mentioned that already.
I meant it.
Indie, on the other hand, has always been ready for bed early and gets up WAY too early for anyone’s own good…at the crack of crack, I say. But he likes to cuddle and watch cartoons, so it hasn’t been necessary to actually get up that early. However, in the afternoon, he’s dragging and if we drive any distance, and I mean, even around the block, he will be sawing logs in the backseat.
So for him to have afternoon Kindergarten was a little bit of a bummer, but you can’t choose…”they” pick for you.
School. Schmool.
Not one bit…ahem.
Yesterday I had errands to run once they got home from school, so we took off as soon as Indie got off his bus. Sure enough, he’s snoozing three minutes into the drive. I went through the drive-thru at the bank~ anything to stretch out his nap, but when we got to Home Depot and needed to pick out paint, I had to bite the bullet and try to wake him up.
No go.
He would NOT wake up. I carried him for as long as I could. He was OUT.
Speaking of carrying him~ I will carry him for as long as I possibly can, but I am short and he’s gaining on me fast. I’m tough and all that, but he’s gonna be carrying me pretty soon.
Finally I laid him in the Home Depot shopping cart with his head on my backpack. He slept there for the next 45 minutes.
I wish I could have taken a picture of him. It was priceless…but he was sleeping on my camera.
Oh, to be a child again. To let your head bobble and droop and everyone think it is the dearest thing in the world.
Back to school and adjusting~ sorry, a Wee Bit on the Ramble-y today~ I think another week and we will be golden…if not fully adjusted, at least resigned to the Routine. Even though it Stinktines.
