I have football dyslexia.
It is a condition that I have finally come to terms with~ I look at the screen but the images just don’t register. I look at the screen and the next thing I know, a half hour has passed and I have redecorated my entire house while I’m just sitting there staring.
It really is so, so sad.
However…last night…I think I had a breakthrough…
We went out to our friends’ new place. Rick and Lee moved into a great house and we are so excited for them. The kids played hard and we all went to the “man cave” to watch the game.
Well, I just had no idea. The sheer volume that burst forth out of that cave…who knew?
Let me backtrack just a bit. I really do not care about football. Whatsoever. I’ve tried because my husband likes it, but like I said, the dyslexia…it just does not permit me to fully focus. But when I think about the team spirit~ I do think that’s pretty cool.
Our home team, the Vikings and the Green Bay Packers are longtime rivals. I couldn’t believe Vikings’ fans were so happy to get Brett Favre after he’d been the Packers’ quarterback all those years. It seems fans (some) can tend to be equal parts loyal/fickle when the need arises.
So when it was determined that the Packers were in the Super Bowl with the Steelers, I was shocked to find that most people around here were rooting for the Packers.
What???
I don’t know if it was the man cave or Rick running like mad every time the Packers made a good move (HILARIOUS~ Rick, you are a hoot!)…or the fact that the Steelers gave the Packers a run for their money until the VERY LAST MINUTE (Go, Steelers!)…but I actually focused and cared about the game.
It was a real breakthrough.
Now, don’t count on it to last past the Super Bowl. It was a one time deal and if you missed it, you missed it. With my condition, I’m just happy with the few good football experiences I do have.
