I’ve decided I’d like to give eggnog another try, you know…as an adult.

It’s always sort of grossed me out. The thickness, the sweetness, the way people who drink it have that layer of white on their tongues…

You know what, maybe I’m not ready yet.

But if I WAS ready…does anyone have a wonderful eggnog recipe to share? I know of one friend who is in the process of getting a fabulous recipe. How about we compare? Or is there some store-bought brand that you just HAVE TO HAVE every Christmas?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Another cooking question…

7-Minute Frosting, Which Should Really Be Called 10-Minute Frosting is SO delicious…the first day. Is there a technique to keep it from getting granule-y the second day?

Does anyone besides my dad like fruitcake?

These are the questions that plague my mind this morning.

That and…have you ever tried one of those tongue scrapers? Those should really be sold alongside eggnog.

    Troi Atkinson
Rum makes all things Christmas good… even Eggnog & fruitcake

Troi Atkinson i find the best eggnog is the one sitting next to the Rum @ the store…

Lori Sabin are you teasing me? that just sounds wrong

Troi Atkinson haha… no it is my true feelings on such bovine lactate. as far as fruit cake goes I’ve always relied on Dad in that department.

Lori Sabin got it. that rum’s what you like. πŸ™‚

My cousin’s wife (Leah) made hot vanilla (like hot chocolate) this weekend. I about convulsed and slipped into a blissful holiday coma. It was AMAZING. I’ll try to see if I can get her to give up the recipe.

    Lori, channeling Grannie?

Oh…Steve beat me to the comment about Leah’s hot vanilla. I’m not a fan of eggnog either. Do the vanilla instead…it’s SOOOOO good. You could even slip a little rum in there for when Troi comes over…holiday perfection.

Ok I am LOL-ing…..Tongue Scrapers are UH MA ZING!! I think everyone should have one whether drinking eggnog or not ;0) No, I am not an eggnog fan so I am sorry I cannot help you there. Double no, on the fruit cake. I think you and I must be alike in the sense that ~ we don’t like “TEXTURE” in our food ?!?!? or maybe it is just certain textures and granule-y is not one!!

Hope you get some awesome recipes πŸ™‚ Thanks for the laughs!

I happen to love eggnog (especially with rum.) Hmm, I miss rum.

Anyways, I’ve never made it, but I really would like to.

Maybe try to “water down” the eggnog with regular milk. That’s what we do. It is VERY thick!

Hey Lori, I always felt the same way about eggnog. Though since Jason & now Colin both love it (non-alcoholic of course) I buy it for them & there are some that are pretty good. Southern Comfort makes a non alcoholic version that is really good if you can find it. There is original & vanilla. Both are equally good. Never actually made it so no recipe here. I do have a good fruitcake recipe at home though. Doesn’t do me any good being in Iowa right now. :oP I do like good fruit cake, has to actually be moist not like a brick. πŸ™‚
